What's involved in having a horse portrait done?

Pre- Photography Session:

As horse owner and an avid rider myself, I love to capture the special bond that exists between horse and owner. The unique connection, friendship, and emotion that you will want to cherish forever.

I like to discuss with you beforehand what you would like to see in your photographs as there are many different ways to portray that special bond. You may have a particular idea or would like to replicate something that you have already seen. The photos may include you or just be of your horse. The choice is yours.

Studio Sessions - If your favourite image is with a black or white backdrop, a very large barn and access to power for studio lights will be required. It is important to note that for this kind of photography your horse also needs to be reasonably level headed. Generally horses seem to accept the lights, however care is required.

Timeless images will come and take your photos anywhere within the Auckland area (Silverdale to Bombay) at no additional cost. Travel charge of 80c per km applies outside of Auckland, or airfare.

On the day:

Generally, the best time to capture your photographs is in the afternoon as this is when the light is best for photographs. This also gives you time to make sure that your favourite halter or bridle is clean and ready.

If you are in the photos please dress in neutral colours. Jeans and a plain shirt are recommended. Bright colours, patterns, brands, bling and heavy jewellery will date and take the focus off the subject.

Finally, please also allow plenty of time. Horses require patience!

Reviewing your images:

Allow from a week up to 10 days for us to carefully select and process your images. Depending on the length and variety of the session, we present approximately 30-40 images. From there we decide how you would like them presented, you can purchase prints, customer framed enlargements, canvas's. You will be spoilt for choice with our wide range.
